The Union County Crime Stoppers Board was established to encourage Union County residents, who might otherwise be reluctant to share first hand information they might have pertaining to criminal activity, to come forward and report that activity to law enforcement.
Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $10,000 for information resulting in the arrest and indictment/prosecution of criminal offenders. Tipsters never need to reveal their names, whether they call the twenty four hour hotline number 908-654-TIPS (8477), or submit a tip via this website. As former Chairman Ron Posyton said, "We don't need your name, we just need your information!"
The Union County Police, in cooperation with the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Union County Police Chiefs Association, receives and coordinates all tips submitted to the Crime Stoppers program.
Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy.
Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment/prosecution of a felony offender.
Crime Stoppers relies on volunteer Directors and tax deductible contributions from the public in order to operate the administration of the program.
